Fixing teeth in a dayA dental implant mimics the root of a natural tooth. This device is placed into the jaw, where bone fuses solidly around it in a process called osseointegration. The implant is then topped with a porcelain crown, or several may be used to anchor a bridge or denture.
The traditional dental implant technique calls for several months of healing before the restoration is placed. Dr. Matarazzo utilizes a different approach to ensure that the patient doesn’t have to go a day without teeth:
- Extractions (if necessary) are performed on site.
- Dr. Matarazzo uses specially-designed implants and a precise surgical method that allows the implant to be “loaded” immediately.
- A temporary crown or prosthetic is inserted. The smile looks natural, and the patient may eat a soft food diet right away.
- Once osseointegration is complete, final restorations are placed. With good oral hygiene and regular dental attention, implants can last a lifetime.
How teeth in a day rejuvenate the faceObviously, there is immediate appearance benefit from restoring problem teeth. Gaps are gone and unattractive teeth are replaced by lovely restorations. In addition, because dental implants reside in (not on top of) the jaw, they stimulate bone density each time you bite down. That helps to avoid a caved-in facial appearance, and preserve youthful fullness.
